Stevie is one of the dogs evacuated from the shelter as Hurricane Debby apprached. He was reported to be blind when he came into the shelter. We learned that has vision in one eye, but he has trauma in the other eye. He also has scars on his head and neck, also caused by trauma. We don't know if he was a bait dog, or if he was attacked by another dog. We just knew this sweet, timid boy needed help.
Stevie went to Pet Paradise with the other dogs who were in outdoor kennels in a rural shelter in the path of the storm. Thank you Misty Exley at Pet Paradise Jacksonville Airport for helping us get these dogs out of the path of the storm, and thank you Brittany for fostering him.
Stevie had an appointment with Dr. Brown at Animal Eye Clinic to check out his eye. Dr. Brown confirmed that he has no vision in that eye due to trauma, and Dr. Brown did surgery to remove has damaged eye. We're excited to announce that Stevie is now adopted by his foster Brittany!
Thank you Erin, Andrew, Walt, Shelli, Ryan, Shannon, Eva, Kevin, Susan and everyone else who scrambled to get these dogs out of harm's way. Welcome to FUR, sweet boy. Better days are ahead!

Sick and injured animals like Stevie need help fast. Every donation helps, but Monthly donors give us flexibility to respond immediately when there is an emergency. When there is a hoarding case or a hurricane, a dog with a gunshot wound or a cruelty case, we have to act quickly. We don't have time to do a fundraiser, and wait for those funds to get to us. Your monthly donation can help us save lives again and again. To learn more, please visit: https://www.floridaurgentrescue.org/donatemonthly.
