Sunrise (aka Duchess) came to FUR in 2018 as a badly injured stray. Her throat was cut open all the way down to her jugular vein. A good Samaritan managed to catch her, and a Putnam County Animal Control Officer immediately took her to River City Veterinary Hospital.

Thankfully, Dr. Suzy Broadhurst was there, and once again she saved the day. She cancelled her dinner plans and stayed late on a Friday night to take her right into surgery. We took her into Florida Urgent Rescue (FUR), and Hillary Vessels fostered her. She needed lots of TLC, but she made a full recovery. Despite all she's been through, she is a sweet, affectionate girl.

She was adopted by Irene, who lived near the beach in Jax Beach. They went for sunrise walks on the beach every day, so it was very apropos that she named her Sunrise.

Irene and Sunrise later moved to Colorado, where she’s been spoiled and living the good life ever since! Thank you to everyone who helped this sweet girl, and thank you Irene for giving her the wonderful life she deserves!

Sick and injured animals need help fast. Every donation helps, but Monthly donors give us flexibility to respond immediately when there is an emergency. When there is a hoarding case or a hurricane, a dog with a gunshot wound or a cruelty case, we have to act quickly. We don't have time to do a fundraiser, and wait for those funds to get to us. Your monthly donation can help us save lives again and again. To learn more, please visit: https://www.floridaurgentrescue.org/donatemonthly
